Crimping Criteria

A contact is considered properly crimped if it meets the following criteria:

  1. Meets the specified crimp height (refer to Table 3-3).
  2. Features a "Bell-mouth" (no crimping on conductor).
  3. The tip of the conductor protrudes 0.5mm or less from the "Conductor Barrel."
  4. All conductor strands are contained within the "Conductor Barrel."
  5. No wire insulator is crimped into the "Conductor Barrel."
  6. No cracks, burrs, or similar defects are present in the crimping area.

Contact Withdrawal Procedure

To withdraw a contact:

  1. Visually inspect the connector for any breakage, deformation, discoloration, or damage.
  2. Lightly push the wire with the crimped contact and hold it.
  3. Insert a "Withdrawing Tool" into the tool cavity as shown in Fig. 6-2 and Fig. 6-3.
  4. When the tip of the withdrawing tool contacts the molding lance, release the contact locking and hold.
  5. Withdraw the wire along a straight axis.

Notes:

  • Suitable dimensions for withdrawing tool: JAE's withdrawing tool is "ET-MX19."
  • Do not snag the contact on the grommet by forcedly withdrawing.
  • The limitation frequency for withdrawing at one cavity is 3 times. If any damage or deformation is found, do not use it; replace it with a new one.
  • Do not apply unnecessary force during withdrawal.
  • Withdrawing tool insertion is only for the "tool cavity," never for the contact cavity.
